On behalf of the staff and Board of Directors of Southeastern Community & Family Services, Inc. (SCFS), welcome to our website! Whether you are looking for housing services, the Head Start program for your child, general information, or perhaps you are interested in doing business with SCFS, we hope you will find this website helpful.
SCFS, formerly Four-County Community Services, Inc., is a private, statewide, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization working to improve the quality of human life for residents in North Carolina. Governed by a 31 member Board of Directors and team of professional advisors, SCFS has been providing an array of services for children and families since 1964—growing into the largest community action agency in North Carolina.
Operating a community action agency requires great leadership in partnership with our stakeholders and our staff who do the day-to-day work. In a team effort, we stand firm on our first commitment to those we serve—listening to their concerns and assessing the needs of the community to provide services that will benefit the entire family. As with any other community action agency, SCFS is on a mission to empower low-income families as they strive for a better way of living.
For the last 50 years, SCFS’s programs and services—from our early childhood education program, to our self-sufficiency program, and every other program in between—have positively impacted children and families in seven counties in southeastern North Carolina. There’s no stopping us now! We plan to continue serving those areas, and expanding to new ones, as the need demands.
One of our greatest strengths involves embracing internal change as our external environment evolves. Whether it’s improving and updating our technology, to expanding our office space, to hiring the best and the brightest, we are developing a reputation for identifying our needs and promptly making changes, so that we can move forward in serving the community.
In addition to the various programs Southeastern manages, we serve over 1,000 Head Start students and their parents, manage and oversee scholarship and internship programs, and support several other community initiatives on an annual basis.
As you explore the site, feel free to take note on how you believe our agency can better serve the community. We welcome your feedback. Also, please visit us regularly as we are updating our website, daily.
Thank you for taking the time to visit us and, again, welcome to Southeastern Community & Family Services, Inc. (SCFS).
